Shido: is a vampire that's hundreds of years old, when he ran away from Cain (his creator) he was punished by losing his memories, he has few memories of when he was human. He feels that no one should hurt anyone else, and vowed never to hurt another human. Well Shido is a very handsome fellow, he's a bit of a sex suggesting joker. His mother, as well as many people in his town, died while he was away searching for a cure (and becoming a vampire), he got back just in time to turn his sister into a vampire, she in turn yelled at him for doing that to her and jumped into the sunlight turning to ash. Obviously this would make him very sad and even traumatized him, he did lose everyone he loved. He is now surrounded by new people he loves, Guni, Rihuo, and Yayoi.

Guni: is an urban fairy, she's supposed to brings people happiness, but... She is a good friend to Shido, often cheering him up and always there to tell him what he did wrong. She hides in Shido's hair (or something,) she always disappears behind Shido's head. She is a bit of a brat she is always teasing, taunting, and basically irritating- Rihou and Yayoi (its mainly a female bout over Shido's affection).

Rihuo: a young girl (in high school) who works as Shido's secretary, at first she thinks he's very eccentric and doesn't know he's a vampire, but she finds out otherwise in the first few episodes. After the first few episodes Rihou is attacked by Cain, and is left to bleed to death, the only way for Shido to save her life was to turned her into a vampire. She doesn't regret it (or so she says). Through out the series Rihou's love for Shido only grows stronger, I feel that by the 12th episode Shido stops feeling like a friend or father figure to her and really loves her, as she loves him.

Yayoi: is the only human friend left in Shido's life, and a very important one at that. She is immune to the venom of a vampire's bite and cannot be changed into one, this allows Shido and Rihou to have the blood they need to live. She is often blunt and quick witted, especially when it comes to Guni.
